Paleo-sandblows and Their Represented Paleoseismic Events in the Taoyuan Basin, Yunnan Province

Based on the results of field geological surveys and stratigraphic dating data, the paleo-sandblows and their represented paleoseismic events developed in the upper strata of the Taoyuan Basin were analyzed. More than ten paleo-sandblow traces were outcropped in the 7-km-range from Taoyuan to Xialinong region in the Taoyuan Basin. The sandblows and their deposits are featured by mushroom-shape, umbrella-shape, sac-shape and skewed cup shape. Their large scale and wide distribution indicated that there was a strong sandblow eruption events related to paleoearthquake. The width of sandflow depositsis several meters, and the thickness is tens of centimeters to one meter. The largest one is 8 meters wide, and 1–1.5 m in the thickness. It is common to observe 1.0–4.5 m long, 0.25–0.35 m in diameter, and 0.8 m in width sand veins. The paleosol layer with good continuity is generally developed at the depth of 1.5–3.0 m below the ground, which is the ground surface at that time. These sand veins and sandflow deposits are generally developed above and below this layer. According to the 14C dating results of the top of the paleosol layer and the bottom of the overlying strata of the sandflow deposits, it is speculated that the time of the paleoseismic event forming the sandblows is 13030±40–12120±40 aBP, and its magnitude is at least greater than 7. The Chenghai-Binchuan fault was a strong active fault in the late Quaternary period, which triggered this Taoyuan earthquake.

Late-Quaternary Activity of Tongdian-Madeng Basin Segment of Weixi-Qiaohou Fault

Based on the field survey results, the geological and geomorphic evidences of Late Quaternary activity and paleoseismic events in Tongdian-Madeng basin section of Weixi-Qiaohou fault are studied. The results show that the segment is active during Holocene and dominated by dextral strike slip. Its horizontal slip rate is 1.8-2.4 mm/a, and vertical slip rate is 0.30-0.35 mm/a since the Holocene. The OSL ages of faulted strata revealed by Yushuiping trench are 5.1±0.6, 5.3±0.2, 7.5±0.5 and 10.3±0.9 ka respectively, belonging to Holocene accumulation. Several faults developed on T2 terrace of a small river in Xiataiping offset all the strata under the modern loam layer, and the OSL age of the upper stratum is 5.3±0.6 ka. The activity of fault since Pliocene resulted in strong tectonic deformation of the Pliocene sediments, and its property also changed from thrust to dextral strike slip. Seismic phenomena such as seismic wedge, sand vein and soft sedimentary structural deformation are exposed at Xinmin, Gaichang and other trenches and the offset amount is mostly about 1 m. It is considered to be caused by the same seismic event, with an occurrence time of about 28000 aBP and a magnitude of seven.

This paper proposes a stance classification method on interactive text by incorporating background knowledge. This method retrieves relevant background knowledge texts from Wikipedia by using the interactive text as query. The retrieved background knowledge texts are encoded and then ultilized to learn the representation of relavent background knowledge through deep memory network for improving the representation learning of interactive text. The experimental results on three English online debate datasets show that the performance of interactive stance classification can be effectively improved by incorporating background knowledge through choosing the appropriate number of background knowledge embedding layers and the connection method of background knowledge embedding layer.

This study identifies the current situation of water pollution in the rivers, reservoirs and coastal waters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and analyzes the issues about urban water-logging as well as the changes in water volume in rivers and estuaries. The water pollution in the Bay Area is mainly caused by the intensive population and industrial activities in large cities. The imperfect sewage treatment system and management strategies have exacerbated the pollution. Water quantity problems mainly derived from the excessive encroachment of ecological water. By summarizing the development experience of the international advanced Bay Area, including improving legislation, raising standards, limiting emissions, and protecting the ecological water environment, this study proposes the following countermeasures for further management of water environment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: 1) improving water use efficiency and strengthening sewage treatment; 2) promoting the construction of sponge cities; 3) controlling cofferdams and improving ecological protection; 4) accelerating the transformation of social economy.

This paper researches the effection of symmetry reduction to the numerical integration for holonomic system. Through numerical experiment, there is not essential effection for numerical integrator when system is reduced to lower dimension. But under the reduced system, it can effectively decrease the difficulty of writing program and the time of computation. So for the complicated dynamical system, it should be firstly reduced by symmetry methods and obtain the dynamical system with less degree of freedom, then the dynamical nature of system can be researched under the reduced system.

Soil Dissolved Organic Carbon Decreased Following 40-year Grassland Afforestation

To determine the change of soil dissolved organic carbon (DOC) following grassland afforestation, the authors compared soil DOC, soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil total N (STN) of top 30cm soils under Leymus chinensis meadow steppe, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plantation, and Larix principis-rupprechtii. plantation in Saihanba, Hebei Province. DOC, SOC and STN of coniferous plantation soils were less than those of meadow steppe soils; DOC, SOC, and STN decreased following 40-year grassland afforestation. Soil heterogeneities of coniferous plantations were lower than meadow steppes.

Electron Spin Resonance Dating and Strike-Slip Characteristics of the Daquan Fault in the Beishan Area on the Border between Xingjiang and Gansu Provinces

The left lateral characteristics of Daquan fault was confirmed by: 1) remote sense images of the left-distortional drainage system; 2) statistics of scratches on the fault plane and cleavages in the fault zone; 3) micro-characteristics of fault rocks. ESR age of fault gouge indicated the fault movement occurred in early Pleistocene (1.2-1.5 Ma), whereas the branch faults movement occurred in ca. 300 ka. These data support that the formation of Daquan fault is closely related to the uplift process of Tibet, meanwhile it is also a long-distance effect of the continuous collision between Indian and Eurasia Plate and the uplift of Tibet during late Cenozoic.

Magnetic Tomography in the Central Bohai Sea of China

The central Bohai Sea is one of the thinest lithosphere in eastern China where strike-slip and extension faults are very intensive with intensive magmatic activity, including the volcanic rocks and intrusion, which show the conspicious high positive magnetic anomalies. The spatial distribution, shape and property of high magnetic anomalies in the central Bohai Sea are inversed by the magnetic tomography, based on the analysis of regional geology and seismic sections in the Bohai basin.

The bivariate Poisson models of contingent claim times about the homogeneous portfolios are studied, and an independent condition of the two variables is proved, and then the Mixed bivariate Poisson models of contingent claim times about the heterogeneous portfolios with dependent risks are studied, and the last, the optimum BMS formula about the heterogeneous portfolios with dependent risks are reached.
